FAQs

  • I exclusively sell my knives at my table at the shows I attend and via this website (www.emersonarchetype.com). My knives can also be purchased via collectors who can be contacted either online or in person at shows; however, I cannot guarantee the quality of my knives when bought from secondary sources.

  • All purchases that are made in person are cash-only. Online orders are still being sorted out.

  • While my knives are designed for hard-use and working environments, there are several things to be mindful of so you can keep your knife in working order:

    • Keep the knife clean of any dirt, grime, residue, or corrosive substances, especially in areas that permit the knife to function (liner lock, bearings, pivot, etc.)

    • Do not overtighten or loosen the pivot or handle screws. The knife’s ideal tightening is achieved when it is created, so if you take the knife apart, be sure to make a note of how tight the screws were when you initially received the knife.

    • Keep your knife sharp. Using your knife to cut through abrasive or harsh materials will result in a dull blade that needs to be sharpened afterward. Depending on the grind on your blade, you may need to use a specific technique to sharpen it to get the best edge possible. If you are not confident in your sharpening skills, you are welcome to send your knife to me, and I can sharpen it for you.

  • Laws vary by location and jurisdiction, so I advise you to check the specifications I provide here on my website for the knife you intend to carry and cross-check them with your local laws.

  • I offer a limited lifetime warranty on all custom knives I produce. This warranty is limited in that it does not apply to knives whose blades have been chipped or broken or have otherwise been modified or used outside of their intended function. Services covered under this warranty include replacing faulty hardware, cosmetic touch-ups, and repairing mechanical-related issues.
