Meet the Maker

Lucas grinding a knife handle so the parts are flush.

Lucas Emerson

Most of my youth was devoted to life in the knife factory. I still sometimes feel as if I have spent more time there than at home, and I have since grown quite familiar with the knifemaking lifestyle. My father, Ernest Emerson, taught me everything he knows about knives and the processes needed to produce them from start to finish, both for customs and production. He showed me more than just the means to manufacture; he taught me his design philosophy and shared his deep, unwavering motivation. Once I truly understood these concepts, I felt unstoppable. I only wish that I had started my knifemaking career earlier.

The Tectonic MX-300

I present to you the MX-300 adorned with the proprietary “Tectonic” finish. The black-stained maple burl scales help accentuate the jagged, multicolored ridges in the zirconium bolsters, a testament to an unrelenting force wielded by nature. This unique knife was made available via lottery at Blade Show Atlanta 2025.

Behind the Blades

First and foremost, a knife is a tool. Historically, they are one of the most useful, versatile tools ever to be wielded by human hands.

I make my knives knowing fully how they are intended to be used: as tools. While in some cases they may look delicate or “fancy,” I build my knives to the same spec and standard as my father, Ernest Emerson. They are designed to withstand the harshest of conditions, using materials that have been, in the truest sense, battle-proven. I will not taint or ignore their intended function by adding unnecessary gimmicks and gadgetry. You will not find those features here.
